Diplomat asks more solidarity on Lao community

Beijing, China – A Lao diplomat advised students in Beijing that the solidarity was very important so all Lao people living in abroad had to aware on this.

Lao Ambassador First Secretary on Education and Culture Aloun Silattanakoun told Lao students at annual meeting of Lao student in 2010-2011 last week that all people in this community should be aware on announcement, work and activity which held and organised by the Lao embassy and student association.

“Solidarity will gather us to fight with any problems during living here,” he explained.

The meeting reported that in previous most Lao students in Beijing had good solidarity, but few of them still don’t know how important on this. It appeared on several activities that embassy and the association set up meeting or organising some ceremony, those students didn’t participate it.

“Remember, all Lao people staying here will be take care by us, so when they have problem we will involve on solving it,” Mr Aloun said.

The meeting also reported the programme and activities during 2010 and 2011 of Lao community to in Beijing and the diplomat asked those students to join all the activities.

At the end of the meeting, Lao Ambassador Somdy Bounkhoum also told those students to pay attention on studying and following all the regulation of China.

“Not only the solidarity of our community, we should make friend with other students from this regional and other countries for the good cooperation in the future, no one know maybe you and your friend today can cooperate with something in the future,” Mr Somdy said.

Then the association has reported the diplomat on the situation of Lao students including old students and new students as well as to plan their activities during this academy.

The Association’s Present Souksumlan  Vongsarasinh said this year there are 75 students in Beijing. Some coming to learn by Chinese scholarships, some by own budgets.

“Generally, Lao students here has no problems, most of them have good solidarity among each other. Just few of them have problem with going out and hand on with friend and miss class the day after, so we have to suggest them to change their habit,” Mr Souksumlan said.

He added that some of them were good at studying here and get prize from their school. “This year will be similar with other year, so we will gather them and help each other who have problem among old and new students. The most important thing is solidarity that diplomats advice so we will use this guideline for the management students here.”

According to the embassy reported that over 1,000 Lao students in China in 2009-2010, this year is under calculation because this just the new academy.

Mr Aloun said most of the students learning here used the scholarship of Chinese government, and because of the good cooperation of two nations the scholarship is increasing every year.

“Most of graduated students will return to work with the Lao government, some will work with Chinese business and private enterprise companies,” he said.
